A warm look at the journey ahead
Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, is far more than just a transit point to Mussoorie or Rishikesh. The Doon Valley cradles remarkable natural wonders — limestone caves, mineral-rich springs, ancient temples, and one of India's most magnificent colonial-era buildings. Robber's Cave (Guchhupani) is a 600 m river cave where you wade through cool waters between dramatic limestone formations — a hidden natural marvel. Sahastradhara, meaning 'Thousand-Fold Spring,' offers therapeutic sulphur-rich waters cascading down limestone terraces. The Forest Research Institute, a UNESCO-recognised Indo-Saracenic building set in 450 acres of parkland, houses India's largest natural history collection. The ancient Tapkeshwar Temple, built inside a limestone cave on the Tons river, offers both spiritual depth and natural beauty. This 3-day package makes Dehradun a destination in itself.
